The reviews are in and Curious Monkey walking food tours are a hit!

"It was a day that would've made Anthony Bourdain proud.
Like Anthony I firmly believe that if you want to understand a culture intimately, you explore it through food. It was a day of firsts: first tamale...
first causa. Some at street food vendors, some at markets, and finally in a... wonderfully rustic, charmingly welcoming home kitchen.
Thanks to Curious Monkey Food Tours... for a truly memorable day."
Annette from Ontario, Canada.
Earth to Table Lunch Tour

"So good I did both tours!
Like most people, I'm always tempted by street food but you're never really sure what's safe. I signed up for the day tour and tried everything they showed us
and loved it all! It was so good I signed up for the night tour the next day.
You're in good hands with Curious Monkeys. I learned a lot too, as they have a ton of local knowledge.
Have no fear and enjoy."
Nick from Canada.

FAQS

Our food tour typically sells out quickly, so please book well in advance.
Cash payment on the day of the tour may be accepted (only with advanced booking) please contact us.

Do I need to buy a ticket if I am not eating?

Yes. Guests need a ticket even if they don't plan to eat.
Non-paying food tour guests will not be able to join the tour. The ticket fees cover the costs of all the food samplings and also to pay for your tour guide's wages.

Where does the Curiosity start?

The tours starts near the Plaza De Armas in Cusco.

No, we do not finish in the same location. It is very close and your monkey guide will be happy to help give you directions.

Do food tours run year-round?

Yes, rain or shine. Many stops are out of doors.
Cusco can experience four seasons in a day so check the weather and dress appropriately.

When is the best time to take tours?

Anytime during your stay, generally we recommend a few days after you have been here.
That allows a little more time to acclimatize to the altitude and the food etc. this will make your experience more enjoyable. Since our tours usually sell out well in advance, there is not a better day of the week versus another.

What types of food tastings are served on the tours?

Food is provided by market vendors, street stalls, local stores and cafes.

How much food is served on the food tours?

Curious Monkey Food Tours serves enough food that most participants are comfortably full after our tours. We have a combination of drink and food tastings.

Please be sure and let us know if you (or anyone in your group) has a dietary restriction when you purchase your tickets.

Celiac and nut allergies or any other severe allergies can not be guaranteed. Tours include meat, dairy, wheat, coffee, sugar spices etc. Known in advance, we will try to accommodate your needs with other tastings. Intolerance to dairy and gluten may be difficult to accommodate on this tour.

Are there vegetarian options on the tours?

The Market and Street and Eat the Streets tour we are able to accommodate alternative tasting for vegetarians at some but not all tasting locations.

We must be advised in advance (time of booking) and we will try to accommodate your needs.

Are any beverages served on the tour?

There will be two beverage tastings on each tour. We are an environmentally conscious company and ask that you bring a refillable water bottle along.

Do we only walk around and sample food?

Heck no! In between mouthfuls, we chat about food, local customs, recipes, history, answer your questions. As most of you will have been on a city tour already we leave the in depth stuff to them.

What is the pace of the tour?

We walk at a moderate pace, keep in mind we do have a schedule. If we run overtime at one location we may have to walk a little faster to make up some time. Our food tour lasts approximately 2 hours you can expect to be standing or walking the majority of the time. We provide some sit-down locations on all of our tours (this is based on how busy the location is), it may not be possible to sit.

How much walking will there be?

Prepare to walk 2 to 3 kms over the 2 hours of the tour.

Is the tour wheelchair accessible?

We will try our best to accommodate this, however please note this is an Incan city where curbs, steps, hills and cobblestone are the norm. Please advise when booking of any mobility issues and we will be in touch.

Are restrooms available during the food tours?

Bathrooms are limited, we will do our best to accommodate requests at the closest stop.

What about taking children on the tour?

Children are allowed to participate in Curious Monkey Food Tours. We suggest ages 6 or above as younger may not enjoy the stops and food . They will receive the same amount of tastings and a discount will not apply. We will customize a few tastes for them if given advance notice. For families, we do advise inquiring about a private food tour.
